Stacie Huckeba is an award winning, internationally recognized photographer, writer, public speaker and filmmaker. Her pictures have graced the cover of Marie Claire, as well as the pages of Rolling Stone, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, and others. Initially celebrated as a music photographer for icons like Pearl Jam, Public Enemy, and David Bowie’s Tin Machine, she began expanding her career during the early 21st century. From long form Oral Histories for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to full-length films on Grammy winner Christopher Cross and Americana kingpin Todd Snider, Huckeba has worked as a film producer on both sides of the Atlantic.
She’s attracted global attention as a writer, too, penning pieces about versatile topics —including body image, self-worth, and sexism in the music industry — for The Guardian, HuffPost, and The Tennessean. Meanwhile, her work for iconic musicians continues, with clients like Robert Plant, Billy Joel, and Dolly Parton — the latter of whom tapped Huckeba to be her ongoing in-house photographer — all positioning themselves in front of her lens.
A uniquely empathetic individual in an image-conscious industry, Stacie Huckeba’s projects highlight the internal and external beauty of her subjects. “Whenever I’m working with a client,” she explains, “I want them to see themselves reflected in a way they’ve never seen before. I want them to see their self worth, and walk out of a session feeling better about themselves entirely. I want them to recognize and harness their power.” Much of that empathy comes from Huckeba’s own experience of losing 220 pounds — a life-changing evolution that marked not only a physical transformation, but a mental and emotional one that deeply affected her work.
Attuned to people’s insecurities and sensitivities, she digs deep, showcasing her clients’ inner qualities. Huckeba’s willingness to share her story has made her an in-demand public speaker, as well as a go-to source of professional and personal on TikTok. Sharing tips on lightning technique one minute and pointers about self-care the next, she has built a community of almost 20,000 followers in just two months.
It all comes back to storytelling.
